Kiryandongo district chairman Edith Aliguma Adyeri has called upon the community of Diika trading center to actively participate in monitoring government programs within their area. Aliguma made the call on Friday November 26, 2021 while addressing the residents at Diika trading centre during the launch of the 13 KM shillings 55.43 million Kisorosoro-Diika road.

According to Emmanuel Niyonzima the acting District Engineer, the scope of work on Kisorosoro-Diika road involves bush clearing,shaping and spot gravelling of 4 kilometers.

Aliguma also called upon the people of Diika to take advantage of the various government interventions in their area so as to get rid of poverty. “The road will improve access to the markets and other services such as the hospital.” Said Aliguma.

The LCV decried the increasing cases of open defecation with low latrine coverage in the area which is likely to cause hygiene and sanitation related preventable diseases. She further decried the cases of malnutrition among the children in spite of Kiryandongo being an agriculturally productive district. Aliguma urged the people not to sell all their produce so as to ensure food security.

While addressing the community during the same occasion, Geoffrey Mucunguzi the RDC Kiryandongo assured the people of government commitment towards service delivery in the district. However, Mucunguzi noted the increasing number of teenage pregnancy in the district and urged the parents to address the causes by providing adequate food as well as engaging the children in productive activities while at home.
