Officers Trained in Performance and Management
The ministry of Public Service has trained the Officers from Kiryandongo District Local Government on Performance and Management.
The training organized by the Principal Human Resource Officer Kiryandongo, Violet Murungi at the Youth Resource Centre on June 14, 2018 targeted the Heads of Departments, Town clerks, Medical in charges of health centers and other Officers.
The training is in line with capacity building efforts of the Human resource department aimed at improving the performance of Officers so as the set targets are met for timely service delivery.
Among the key issues discussed during the training was appraisal of Officers aimed at providing detailed and fair assessment of the appraised Officers in relation to their planned outputs in the performance plan.
According to Susan Akello the Senior Human Resource Officer Department of Performance and Management at the Ministry of Public Service, appraisals help in identifying performance gaps as well as identifying the solutions to the gaps identified so as to ensure meeting of the targets in the next performance plans.
Susan urged the supervisors to always be honest and objective while appraising the Officers. There is need to sanction indiscipline Officers so as they improve on their performance as well as rewarding outstanding Officers with an aim of encouraging good performance and timely service delivery. She adds that rewards create a competitive work environment.
Herbert Oriokot the Senior Human Resource Officer Ministry of Public Service also urged the Officers to always attend to duty and incase of out of station for official duty, communication should be done to the Responsible Officer in time.
