Kiryandongo Schools Take Shape
Five schools in Kiryandongo district which benefited from the Development Response to Displacement Impact Project-DRDIP have taken great shape following the infrastructural developments launched four months back.
The schools which have so far taken shape as a result of DRDIP are Mutunda primary School,Nyamahasa Primary School,Bweyale C.O.U Primary School,Bweyale Public Primary School and Kiryandongo Seed Secondary School-DiiKa. The five schools constitute the first and second disbursement of DRDIP school facility construction and are at a cost of 1,791,937,200/= Uganda shillings.
The third disbursement has Kankoba Primary School, Apodorwa Health Center II, Kinyara Primary School, Kaduku Health Center II, Alero Primary School and Yabweng Primary School at Uganda shillings 2,172,000,000/=.
All the schools under this project will have two classroom blocks with three classes each, three five stance pitlatrines,108 desks and 10,000 liters stainless steel water tanks.
With an enrollment of over 300 students, Kiryandongo Seed Secondary School-Diika which was founded by the community with support from Uganda Wildlife Authority had only one poorly built two stance pit latrine serving both teachers and students and one classroom block with two classes.
Development Response to Displacement Impact Project is an intervention by the Government of Uganda with funding from World Bank to support refugee host communities.
Kiryandongo district has implemented projects worth 6,884,934,200/= Uganda shillings in schools, health centers and roads under DRDIP this Financial Year 2018/2019.
