Sensitize The Community On Value Addition, Rdc Asks Leaders
The resident district commissioner Kiryandongo has called upon leaders in the district to sensitize the people about value addition so as they desist from selling their produce at low prices which has made it difficult to eradicate poverty among the farmers. Peter Debele the RDC said this while presiding over the 57th independence celebrations at Kibanda Secondary school in Kiryandongo district.
Charles Ntairehoki the district chairman asked the members of parliament to lobby so as more funds are allocated to the local governments since they are service centers. Ntairehoki added that the 13% allocated to the local governments from the national budget is not sufficient to ensure effective service delivery which has hindered economic liberation and independence of the people.
Jack Odur the Member of Parliament for Kibanda south called upon the people to work hard so as they ensure economic independence of their families. Odur also asked the leaders to take exemplary gestures and make good use of land and advise the people not to sell off their land for risky businesses such as boda boda.
Hellen Kahunde the woman member of parliament expressed concern over increasing numbers of school dropout and defilement of girl child in the district. Kahunde requested the parents to support the girl child with essentials such as books and sanitary towels which will help reduce numbers of school dropouts.
